ME

Kenyan, studied in Malaysia, currently living in Abu dabhi . My undergraduate studies in Architecture have equipped me with creativity, conceptual design skills, planning skills, skills necessary for effective construction in the continuously changing environment . I am now seeking to expand my knowledge and skills, I am a motivated multi cultured individual who is ready to open up to opportunities in the Architectural design world . I hope that together we can make a difference socially, economically and environmentally.

Design communication.

This module introduced me to the fundamental skills for the appropriate communication of architectural design. it engages different means of visualization and expression of space and spatial ideas through architectural drawings and modeling to prepare us with the skills required in design projects. This skills were taught to us through a series of freehand, construction drawing and architectural modeling classes held both outdoors and in studio.

Project 1:

A:On site sketching.
I was required to engage with the site by experiencing it in every way possible, and then record my observation and perception of the human habitation of these spaces through free-hand sketches. This sequence must include both exterior and interior.

Exterior.

Interior.

B: Tonal values
This exercice is designed to build the previous assignment, in developing my skills in creating depth and tone in a sketch. thus refining and enhancing my ability to produce an architectural sketch that is legible.

Stippling.

Scribbling

Hatching

Cross hatching.

After a successful completion of this assignment I learnt a number of skills such as sketching
sketching techniques, sketch structure and toning. I have now developed various techniques
of hatching.

Project 2:
A: Orthographic projections: plans, sections, elevations

I was to utilize the given images of simple building called the barcelona pavilion, which was to be drawn up, by using the skills demonstrated and explained in the workshop classes. We were required to draw the following required orthographic drawings in the scale 1:50.

GROUND FLOOR PLAN

ELEVATIONS.
( 4 in total comprising of front, back, left & right elevations)

CROSS SECTION, LONGITUDINAL SECTION and SITE PLAN

B: Axonometric projection.
Axonometric drawing is an excellent method of communicating and expressing an architectural idea, be it as a diagram at a fairly early stage of the design process (i.e conceptual expression) or as a presentation aid upon finalization of our design, therefor in this part of the project we had to practice our skills in drawing axonometric drawings.

C : Perspectives
This assignment introduced me to perspectives as a mode of communicating in architecture. I was required to construct firstly one exterior (2 point) perspective followed by one sectional interior perspective (1-point).
In constructing both these perspectives, i was to demonstrated the ability to express spatial idea in 3-D form, understanding of 2-D and 3-D relationships in architectural graphics, skills in drawing and composition, creativity and complexity of drawing, also my selection of space and exterior form is significant.

Exterior 2-point perspective.

Interior 1-point perspective.

After a successful completion of this assignment i am now able to express spatial ideas and architectural detail in 3-D.and also the ability to now produce architectural drawings with strong creative intent.
