ME

Kenyan, studied in Malaysia, currently living in Abu dabhi . My undergraduate studies in Architecture have equipped me with creativity, conceptual design skills, planning skills, skills necessary for effective construction in the continuously changing environment . I am now seeking to expand my knowledge and skills, I am a motivated multi cultured individual who is ready to open up to opportunities in the Architectural design world . I hope that together we can make a difference socially, economically and environmentally.

Building construction 1

This is the first module in the building construction modules that I took, the main objective of this module it to teach us and develop the understanding the principles and practices of construction technology in the construction industry, in relation to site, soil mechanics, building components etc.
we successfully learned all this from a series of lectures. other then lectures we also did a series of projects, group and individual to make our understanding more vivid. most of the projects not only required us to research deeply into books, but also visit construction sites a couple of times.

Project 1:
Experiencing construction.
This was a group project of 9 members.
The objectives of this project was to introduce basic principles and procedures of construction process through real life projects. understand the sequence and coordinations of a construction at a site.
we had to visit construction site and observe and study construction process and construction details. from the construction site rules, equipments to construction details. our visits covered residential, and office buildings. we later compiled all our research in a book report. which I attached the link below.

group members.

After a successful completion of this project I managed to learn not only construction process and details but group work and coordination and discipline. and also differentiate construction process in different areas according to the project.

Project 2:
Integrated construction detailing
This is a continuation of the first project.
It is an integrated project were it involves construction detailing solution for final project in design studio. to make us develop the understanding of design, that it not only depends on the principles of design but also involved construction detailing knowledge.

My integrated board

We were to identify 3 details for selected elements, mainly roof, superstructure and foundation, and all the details should be hand drawn. from our final studio design which was a retreat house for a professional bird watcher.
After a successful completion of the projects and series of lectures, I fully understood the details and processes involved in construction.
