Architecture culture and history 2

This module is the continuation of architecture culture and history 1, that i took in the first semester, however this module taught us detailed accounts of the principal developments in the Western world from the revolutionary period to the present day through a series of lectures, and also a project which was different parts.

Project
Klang is one of the most oldest towns of Selangor, therefor it has a number of heritage buildings, which have been preserved by the government to show the richness of Klang history, the building are still used but banned from renovation. our project was to pick a building in Klang and research on the history of the building and what it represents to Klang, and what history it reminds the present people about Klang.
My group mates and I picked to research on Klang fire station (Balai Bomba Dan Penyelamat Klang), it is a victorian style building.

After thorough research we had to write a report on, fast facts of the building e.g. location, map etc and architectural elements.

Individually i had to make a board based on our understanding from what we researched on the building, however we had to pick a topic to concentrate on. My board was on user and context of the building.

User and context Board.

After a successful completion of this project and series of lectures, Describe the development of the main strands of western architecture over the last 200 years, Differentiate the way in which many varied factors contribute to the development of form and Compare how architects have used architectural language in various historical periods and places.

Individual analytical sketches on construction details.
Learning Outcomes

2. Ability to analyse and identify specific architectural features in terms of space planning, technology, details, form and the aesthetics of the architecture of Modern Masters
3. Learn how to create understanding in your audience visually by composing factual information and descriptive sketches on a presentation board.

Project 2: Web Book
Tasks
Students are to form a group of 5. The group will conduct a research to document the architecture on a selected building. Students are responsible to ensure that the building is in a good shape and easily accessible. The process of liaising and follow up with the authorities may take a long time. Therefore, the group must have a backup plan before choosing the building. Each group will have ONE main selection and TWO alternative selections from the given list. The group is also highly encouraged to choose their own modern buildings around Klang Valley.
There are three steps to be done in completing the tasks:
1. Report
2. Layout Design
3. Web Book Compilation
The building my group mates and I chose to study is the Textile museum, in Kuala Lampur city.
